‘Painting on Nature’
Workshop aims: to engage the Romani community with an arts activity that reflects their culture e.g. exploring themes such as the campfire, dance and songs – promoting self-expression and social engagement.
What? Decorating stones with vibrant designs and inspiring messages. The message was encouraged to be something personal and symbolically significant to the Romani community, culture and heritage.
Legacy of workshop: To scatter the stones around the neighbourhood to uplift the people who find them and connect them with the Romani community in Newport.
Group size: 2 – 35, divided within three separate sessions one after the other.
Ages: 6 – 45.
